⏵ character information
name: Trevor Belmont
canon: Castlevania (Netflix)
age: Early 20s-ish (he's a real rough twenty-something)
canon point: post-season 2
history: Link
abilities: Like others in his bloodline, Trevor was trained from a very young age to be someone who can go toe-to-toe with vampires and other creatures of the night. While he doesn't possess any sort of supernatural ability, he is generally considered to be at peak human capability in terms of speed, strength, and endurance. Additionally, Trevor is a well-versed and capable fighter both in unarmed and armed combat, although the latter he tends to favor his family whip and a short sword above other weapons.
personality:
🦇 On the surface, Trevor can present at times as apathetic and/or cynical. This largely stems from the fate that befell his family after being excommunicated from the church and banished from their ancestral lands. Unfortunately, many of Trevor's experiences have reinforced his perspective that being a monster hunter is more than a thankless job, but one that is frequently isolating and usually ends poorly. This leads him to tend to view the intentions of others as selfishly driven to the point that acts of goodwill most likely have an ulterior motive. As such, Trevor ignored the call to his hero's journey for a long time, often just wandering about listlessly and viewing people's misfortune as something they most likely earned.
🦇 Additionally, Trevor also tends to present himself like he knows nothing or fails to recognize the seriousness of any given situation. Being assumed to be a hapless drunk historically is often more comfortable for him than being recognized for anything else, family name included, but these days, that guise can do wonders for gathering information or catching others off-guard when needed. Not to say, of course, that Trevor isn't a little stupid at times, but there is a degree to which it is an act and historically has allowed him to distance himself from who he was meant to be.
🦇 And yet, in spite of Trevor's more apathetic to cynical perspective/behavior, he still upholds his family legacy all the same. So much so that Dracula clocks him immediately as "the Belmont" when Trevor came in swinging after Dracula attacked Sypha. Thus, for all that he may say aloud that he won't get himself involved, Trevor does not turn his back on those in trouble. Whether one considers it bravery or recklessness, Trevor is ultimately one to put himself in harm's way to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
🦇 Similarly, Trevor isn't quite as dim-witted as he pretends to be. Trevor demonstrates himself to be an incredibly sharp, pragmatic tactician. He possesses a good sense for battle and possesses deep knowledge as it pertains to vampires and night creatures. Using these in combination and dropping his seemingly carefree demeanor, Trevor is a serious, capable leader for both large and small groups of people regardless of how reluctant he may be at times to be that leader.
